I finished this pen the other day made from olive wood. Its my first fountain pen actually and although i don't know much about them i love this nib. The kit is called baron; rather doric in design but elegant IMO.
Very nice.
I checked with 4 different online dealers who sell this kit and none of them stated what the nib included is.
Not sure which baron you mean, the shop where i bought it, calls this model baron, in the states i think its called otherwise (the brand is berea i think).Very nice. I too like olive wood and Schmidt nibs. Is that the nib that comes with the Barron?
Thank you Dave, olive wood is my favourite wood; its grain is full of surprises!!Olive is one of those woods that I really enjoy working with. It works and finishes nicely and it usually has a very pleasant smell when working with it. Very attractive pen. - Dave
Thank you, i tried to find a piece that is interesting enough and at the same time a bit subtle so that the pen would look nice and simple.Very nice, looks like it has nice heft to it. The blank choice is nice too.
Exactly, doric refers to something that is beauiful and simple at the same time i.e. not extravagant.cheersYou can almost never go wrong with olive wood and you lined up that grain perfectly. The two toned nib does look good on there.
When you say Doric, I think of classic Greek columns. My intuition is telling me you are referring to the kit components as uncomplicated. I generally like the more simply stated kits. They don't distract from the blanks we work so hard to make beautiful.
The Baron was my first fountain pen also. Be careful Mike, fountain pens can be very addictive.I finished this pen the other day made from olive wood.
