Just received an email. It's one thing coming from Nigeria which is where this type of email originates. Given how Americans feel about their military/service I can see a lot of unknowing people taking this for real.

I am Capt. Brian Morgan, a US Marine, serving in the 3rd Battalion,
25th Marine Regimentwhich Patrols the Anbar province, Iraq.I am
desperately in need of assistance and I have summoned up courage to contact you.
I am presently in Iraq and I found yourcontact particulars in an
address journal. I am seeking your
assistance to evacuate the sum of $10,570,000 to the States or any safe
country, as far as I can be assured that it will be safe in your care
until I complete my service here.Contact me via my private
box:brain_morgan100@hotmail.com so that I canfurnish you with more details.

I agree with you, Ruth! Somehow my work email got on the scammer list, and I have gotten versions of that email from all over the world. What is sad is that apparently enough greedy idiots fall for these scams to make it profitable for the scammers. :(

While some may find me "grasping for straws", this makes Cav's frequent point. When I receive these e-mails (owning a business gets you on EVERY scam list), strewn with grammatical errors, I am HAPPY to hit "delete". A Captain in the military would, I hope, remember his name is Brian, not Brain as is in the e-mail address. Similarly, he would leave spaces after periods and would have "summoned up THE courage".

So, if they can't WRITE American, I can assume they are NOT American.

I TRULY DON'T MEAN TO STEP ON ANYONE'S TOES!!!! BUT, THIS IS THE "STANDARD" I USE TO JUDGE MONEY REQUESTS!![:0][:0]

Ed, I also would mention that a Captain in our military that is trying to move over 10 million dollars is likely not a true patriot serving his country!![:0]

You think that's more than he made last month?????:D:D:D:D

Anyone trying to move cash like that is doing so illegally. So no matter what the name, reason or amount, you should know what type of person you're dealing with and expect to be treated accordingly. I don't have any clue how profitable this scam is, but it doesn't take much. Sending emails isn't expensive.

Since it's so profitable, how about a new lathe down this way?????? :D

I am still waiting by the mailbox, Al. Did you get an estimate delivery date??????[:p]

One day I would like to meet the authors of these emails and put them where the belong. Cav can I borrow some gloves from your work.

I would bet that this individual is generating a list of 'verified' e-mail addresses that he will later sell. Just replying to this type of crap 'verifies' your address ... DO NOT REPLY and immediately delete these type e-mails. ;)

I spent a long time in the Corps and I never made even close to that. I should have gotten into this 25th regiment with Brain. Does anyone actually fall for this crap? And I haver to agree with Guts, if I could get my hands on an impersonator, I would explain to them why they shouldn't do that. Semper Fi brother.
By the way, my great uncle Booboo just passed away and left me 100 million dallars, if anyone would like to split it with me please mail me 10000 dollars in cash so I can get a plane ticket to go and pick up my check because the mail is unsafe. Please make the check out to cash as I have no real ID to show anyone. My family is very sick with a cold and I need to get medicine for them before they also die. My fleet of Rolls Royces are waiting to pickup the money at the post office. I don't understand how anyone with any common sense would belive any of this crap.
I have also never heard any Marine use the term "contact particulars". This guy is really starting to pi** me off.

Tom, you don't need to borrow any gloves, I would be happy to use my own bare hands.

My rule: If I'm not sure who sent an e-mail, I delete without opening. My theory is, if it is important and from someone I really know, they will contact me by others means later. If it's a scam/spam or unimportant (e.g. blonde joke), I haven't missed anything.

You'd have to be a complete idiot to fall for one of those email scams.

Hey Johnnie? Are you serious about your Uncle Booboo passing away? I'd like to try to help you claim that money. Could you please pm your address and I'll get the 10,000 in the mail first thing in the morning? You're not just putting me on, are you???

Al, My poor uncle Booboo was a fine monkey and a grape friend. In order to claim the money, we will have to have another $100,000 in cash for my poorly dressed lawyer that looks a lot like me. I wood not kid you about a thing as serious as my uncle Balboa.
Kind Regrets,
Prime minister of the great country of Connecticut
Rev. Attorney Johnnie CPA DDS FOS

Johnnie when did uncle Balboo die? I thought he was just resting, you didn't bury him already did you? I am happy to see that you remembered to use the FOS. Answer your phone or come by the shop.

Did you see in the news last week the guy known as the King of Spam was convicted in court and fined six million dollars? He laughed it off. It was a piddling amount of money compared to what he has made spam/scamming. Reportedly, he sends out as many as 100 million spam e-mails a day. Many complained the fine was too small to stop him, that it should have been in the billions plus many years in prison. He is still laughing all the way to the (offshore?) bank.
BTW, have some of you been getting spams wanting to refer you to a dentist? I get one or two a day. Haven't read any. Wonder what that could lead to. Not laughing gas. :(

I remember reading that story and really being ticked off that somebody would claim to be the King of Spam. Personally, I am a big fan of Spam . . . especially fried with Heinz Ketchup dumped all over it .. and eggs ... over easy. Say yes to Spam! Wanna get a laugh? Go to the Hormel website ... turn your speakers up. http://www.spam.com/ :D:D

Al, you should try it sliced then dipped in flour, eggs, and more flour, then fried. Reminds me of home. It also works with corned beef hash. Military cooks can make anything look good.[}:)]:D
