I got this from another forum. Yours truly was the first to post the answer...now it is time to pass it on. ;)

Those who know where this came from...please do not spoil the fun ;) I know who you are [}:)] LOL

======================================

Sabrina gave Samantha as many dollars as Samantha started out with. Samantha then gave Sabrina back as much as Sabrina had left. Sabrina then gave Samantha back as many dollars as Samantha had left, which left Sabrina broke and gave Samantha a total of $80.00.

How much did Sabrina and Samantha have at the beginning of their exchange?

Don't know about how much the girls have, but,I do know I have a headache trying trying to solve this math quiz.[)]

For the quess to be valid...we need an explanation how you got it OR the equations used. [}:)] Else, it will remain a guess LOL

Sabrina, realizing that she was ripped off bonked Samantha over the head and took the $80.00. Wasted the $$$ on lottery scratch-off tickets which only returned $13.75. Samantha then bought a 6-pack of cheap beer and 2 packs of Marlboros. Sabrina, upon waking up, was mad but realized the money was gone. She settled for a couple of the beers and pack of cigs.

(the idea here was to add another parargraph to the story, right?)

Sabrina had $50 and Samantha had $30.

Samantha 30+30=60-20=40+40=80

Sabrina... 50-30=20+20=40-40=0

I did not use a formula just the schedule above and worked backwards.

I Stand by my answer.

Ron,

You are right, I was the one who got the values crossed.

Perfect equations by the way [^].

Mine was the other side of equation2 which is [m+m-(b-m)]2=80

Congrats to Vick and Ron!

Now for the price....[}:)]

Looks good too!

Mathmatically some of you may be correct, however, if you have teenage daughters you know it doesnt matter nor compute at all, because they just grab Dad's credit card and _charrrrrrrrge_ [:I]

Half the battle was choosing good variable names; at first I was like, okay S1 and S2 = 80 ...[:I] I also wrote out equations for both girls, but found it wasn't necessary. Thanks again Dario, it was fun! [:)]

I jsut wish I'd seen this sooner. And I agree with Jason, BTW. The question was, "How much did Sabrina <b>and</b> Samantha have at the beginning of their exchange?". The answer is, "Sabrina <b>and</b> Samantha had $80 at the beginning of their exchange."[;)][}:)]

Pretty sure I am not awake after two coasts and back home in two days but I believe it starts ut with Sabrina having 50 dolars and Samantha having 30.

Then Sabrina gives Samantha 30 so now it is Sabrina 20 Samantha 60

Samantha gives Sabrina 20 getting it to Sabrina 40 Samantha 40

Then Sabrina continues the stupidity and gives 40 to Samantha and now Sabrina is broke and Samantha has 80 bucks and is on her way to the mall..

and if I had bothered to read the post i would see the answer had been posted, but then I would have felt like I was cheating when I just wanted to answer the question [:)]

Just found this........ I almost fell off my chair when I read the answer from WoodWish! Now that shows a real understanding of human nature!......[:p][:p][:p][:D]
