I have to say this publicly. I had dealt with Matt Huss (Gadget) for years on Ebay, long before I joined here. I consistently got the best wood anywhere, but quit buying on Ebay altogether because (a) I had amassed about 2,000 pen and bowl blanks, of which Matt's numbered in the hundreds, and (b) got tired of the stupid people (who were either filthy rich or just plain stupid) who were jacking the prices up so much it no longer made sense.
Fast forward to now. I saw the post about this "Gadget" guy that made silicone molds, and thought I'd give them a try. When the guy wrote back, I recognized his email address and asked him if he was my wood pusher from the past! Well, he was, but said he didn't do "Feebay" much anymore either.
I asked him if he had any more of the most exquisite crosscut cocobolo in 7/8th that I have ever or will ever see. If any of you have bought any of this from Matt in the past, I need say no more. He did say he had 4 left and probably would not see this type again. He shipped them with my silicon molds, at a completely reasonable price.
I had a custom order from a pen collector for an Imperial Blk. TI in cocobolo. This pen collector had seen one I made in a Majestic at a show I did in December. He asked, I made him this one, and with Matt's unreal wood I got my highest price yet for one of my pens, 175 bucks!!! My customer said he's never seen anything like it before, and believe me when I tell you it was the wood, not my skills, that shined! This guy said he'd bury me with orders in the future. I mailed him a shovel today.
Matt, you've been the man since I started with you years ago, and you're STILL the man!!! I really hope someday we can have a few beers and shoot the breeze. You're THE BEST!!!
