The weather was pretty nice.
Went to the company picnic. Great food and a lot of nice door prizes. I ate until I couldn't put anymore in.[:p] After leaving the picnic I was invited to a gentlemen's shop to see a demonstration of his cnc router. He spent several hours showing me his various cnc software programs and explaining how they work. He showed me some of his designs and finished products. Then he took me out to see the machine run a few cut files. Just amazing!! I will be getting one in the near future.
He was even kind enough to offer me to stop by and test run any designs I come up with, for only the cost of material and bits.
While there I noticed he dabble's in pen crafting. Even has his daughter involved with her own Jet lathe. Developing new friendships always makes for a good day.

That's the way to do it. I have never made an enemy in the shop, but have made friends aplenty there. The mutual appreciation of working with wood is a spiritual connection.

Dozer....don't do it! Once you get a CNC Router you will never look at a piece of wood or a project the same way. You will always be looking as to how it can be done on the cnc...you can sell your tablesaw, your drill press, your.... You will have TOO MUCH FUN!

Just don't forget your friends over here in penland when you get it...you could make some wonderful pen displays with one...I was thinking about that just this morning over that first cup of coffee.

I haven't decided which size will best fit my needs. Naturally I would like to have the largest one but, space and money will limit the size for the first one.
It was a Shopbot. It was one of the first models, pretty old. It ran a little slow but, it would still be better than not having one. I was informed that the newer Bots run approx. 5x's faster for the router and 10x's faster with the spindle.
I see Christmas coming early this year...
