Ok so I know I am not the expert caster, but I wanted to make this video but not so much on the educational level just a fun spirit lifting video. Hope you can smile after you see it. I have another that My little girl did a few weeks back that I will post later. It is hilarious Thanks for watching

What is a "baby soda bottle". Is that just what you call it or do they actually sell soda for infants where you live?

Dixie cups? Does the silmar41 not heat during curing? The instructions I have read for resins is that you don't want to use waxed mixing cups?

baby soda bottles you can by from amazon in a pack of 6. They are the 2 litter bottles before being heated up and expanded. they are just about perfect for casting.

Also the dixie cups are fine to mix the resin in. There are others on here that use them as well. I have not had one problem by using them.

I've heard them being referred as baby soda bottles and soda bottle preforms

Some of the off brands had a wax coating that caused problems with the curing, and other issues. As with all things in disclaimer land. The legal team would have a statement that covers all wax coated cups. To avoid arguments about this one or that.

This was great! Watching this first thing in the morning sparked an interest...perhaps I'll go cast something today...if it's warm enough:biggrin:

Thanks for the videos

You used the popsicle sticks for stirring the resin but didn't quite catch what you were using for a stirring stick after you poured the resin into the baby soda bottle.

Sorry. Should have specified. It is just a piece of wire or you could use a piece or clothes hanger

Nice video. Looks like the whole family is having fun!

Looking forward to seeing the blank.

I thought for sure you dropped that cup of resin in your lap. That could have made the first IAP blooper video!

Well you should see the rug under me. I have dropped two different moods fun of mixed resin. Some I am sure one day it will happen on film.

Maybe we need every one to submit a blooper or two and put it together for one good video

Chris thanks for sharing your casting idea! Chris you need to read the Msds Sheet, cuz that resin will tear up your Lungs and your wife & daughter also. Resporator for chemicals should be use. Just trying to help you realize how brutal that stuff is.Being that you been plumbing so long you are so use of not smelling the toxic. COPD will take control if you keep casting without protection, Reason I say this I know I have COPD and I cast many casting but with protection. Plus I use to smoke Cigs, and use to use various chemicals, but quick 3 yrs ago. So I like to see the pen finish. Good turning & casting !!!

Were the molds in the other video made from aluminum foil? Or was it just to protect the mold?

We first started out using these aluminum molds from seeing allen(drstrangefart) use them in his post. The only thing I did differently was that I used the large popsicle sticks tucked under the side flaps for support. They actually worked quite well. Just took some time to set up.

This is not something for kids to even be around.
I said the exact things you are saying when I started stripping furniture at the age of 16. "The chemicals don't hurt my hands, so I don't need gloves" My dad thought I was tough.
It is not only so the chemicals do not burn your hands, it is so the chemicals do not absorb into your system!
Just because a smell does not bother someone anymore does not mean it is not effecting your body.
I spent years working with strong smelling chemicals and not taking the proper steps to protect myself.
I ended up getting sicker and sicker. At the age of 50 I was getting my affairs in order. It took 2 years for me to find a dr. to figure out what was wrong with me. After a bunch of blood tests the Dr finally discovered that my system was overloaded with heavy metals and toxic chemicals.
I spent 6 months,3 times a week, 5 hours each, with an IV in my arm having chelation done to flush everything out. The cost is not covered by insurance and it was right up there with buying a new car!
I am ok now, but a lot poorer and I lost 2 years of my life.
OK I have had my say.It was not at all to offend you or anyone.
I just really needed to say something because of the children.
I know you might say it is none of our business, but when it was filmed and shown to us, yes it became our business.
