Bradford pear, started out just under 3" thick and very rough. Made my first router sled and leveled it out. Usual sanding, sanding and sanding. Four applications of butcher block oil and he is very happy with it.
I saved a section! My Brain wants to cut that into blanks!
Definitely a simple, rugged, and beautiful chopping block
Wow! I'd say Bradford Pear is remarkable, beautiful job.Bradford pear, started out just under 3" thick and very rough. Made my first router sled and leveled it out. Usual sanding, sanding and sanding. Four applications of butcher block oil and he is very happy with it.
I don't believe so. All the bark was removed and the remaining edge was sanded to 400 grit. All the edges were also rounded over while sanding. It has 4 coats of butcher block conditioning oil as well.Beautiful job. Will having a rough edge cause any problems cleaning up juice or blood after use?
