After living a great life for the past 16 years . . . her hips just got the better of her. For her last walk I took her down to the cemetery to visit our daughter. I ended up having to carry her all 80 pounds of her but it was an important "goodbye". They were great friends.

Doc,

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I lost both of my dogs in a span of 6 weeks and it hurts so much to lose a member of the family. My heart goes out to you and your family. Remember that she is no longer in pain for she has cast off her tired and broken body for the one she had as a puppy and she will keep her new body forever. She will patiently wait for you at the rainbow bridge until the time when you can once again scratch her behind the ears.

Sorry about your loss, Al. After 16 years, she wasn't just a friend, she was a member of the family.

Doc

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. It looks like she had a great 16 years in very good care judging from the grin on her face. Remember she is at the Rainbow Bridge.

Doc, sorry to hear that about your loss. It sounds even harder than most as it was a link to your daughter that just can't be replaced.

My whole condolences to you right now.

Doc,

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I went through that last year and my 24 year old teared up this weekend when he saw his picture. They were best friends for 17 years. She'll be waiting at Rainbow Bridge.

Al, my sincerest sympathies. All of my pets have been family members and if folks don't understand, they can't understand! Thoughts and Prayers.

Al,
I'll ask Lakota to check on her, and see if she would like to be part of his pack.

I just finished writing my Lakota's Rainbow Bridge entry for a rescue that loved him too. I made it a homage to who he was simply by telling a few of the many stories of his life.

Remember her by what she accomplished. Remember her stories.

Its hard to loose one like that. I had to do the same for Marathon a few years ago--also a 16 yo Golden. Both of them will be waiting for us. In my case, I'll have aproximantly 100 pounds of wagging tails and slobbery kisses!

You'll know when it's time for a new one. Don't rush it. She deserves her memory time.

Thoughts and prayers heading your way.

:-( Very sad.... Seems there has been way too much lose of life and sadness in this forum and in my own family. Life has taught me that living has its cycles of ups and downs, good and bad. Doc, I am sure you are due for some of the better times. All the best and much sympathy for your loss

Sincere condolences. She will be waiting for you, tail wagging and free of pain.

Al,

I'm so sorry about your loss. I'm sure she is already running and jumping through the fields of beautiful flowers waiting until the time that you join her to take the last walk across the rainbow bridge together. Angel, Natasha and Liberty (three Dobermans who are waiting for me) are there too . . perhaps they are all playing with tug toys or have new chew bones today as they welcome a new friend to the fold. I know the pain you feel, it will take time - but it will get easier. Know that she she was not only loved but she gave love. That is a wonderful life.

Doc, I'm very sorry to read about the loss of a family member that carried such fond and poignant memories.
Lately there has been far too much sorrow heaped on us, I hope we get a breather for a brief respite.
I know I have several friends waiting on the bridge for me, but I hope I get there before this one.

She literally saved my life after a severe bout with depression after heart surgery.
She managed to get through when no one else could, our furry family can certainly have a very profound impact on our lives.
I believe it was Will Rodgers that said "if they don't let dogs into heaven, I want to go where they go"
But I'm pretty sure they do let dogs in, if not I'd rather go to Philadelphia.

Al, that has to be hard. My thoughts are with you. My little puppy (he will always be a puppy) was diagnosed with a heart murmor a couple of years ago and went on medication for it this year. It was sobering to be hit with the realization that our time with him is limited and to make the best of it.

Boy, she sure was a beauty. Sorry to here about it. Sixteen years is a long time. I hope you find just as good a friend in the future.
