The top blank is cross-cut spalted dogwood, which looks INSANELY good when turned. The cutout was naturally sculpted by ants. This may not have the best bond to the wood, as it's VERY dense in areas and doesn't soak up much in the way of liquids.

The bottom blank is spalted oak that I did the cutouts myself on. I guess next up will be doing the scrollsaw inlay work like this to see what I can do. I don't have a very steady hand on the scrollsaw, so it should be..... interesting.
