A/C problems

Any members in the So Cal area that know something about A/C that could give a fellow member a hand. My A/C quit on the first day of our heatwave and it's going to be several weeks before I have enough money to call someone out and hopefully fix it. Unfortunately the only people I know that know A/C don't live in So Cal. They gave me several suggestions on what it could be, but I don't know how to diagnose and isolate it.:frown:

I don't even get to escape the heat when I go to work as I work in a non temperature controlled warehouse:frown::frown:

My central unit went out while we had company last week and we could not get repair man. My unit is only 5 years old. I first checked the breaker at the switch at the outside condensate unit and it was good. I then checked the main breaker box and found the ac breaker in the off position. I had to push really hard several times to get to stay on and it finally stayed in the on position. The next morning I had electrician replace with new breaker. I hope this helps.
