My wife asked me to make a small bowl for one of her friends who is coming up for the big 8 zero! I had some nice pacific yew which I really like. It turns and finishes nicely and I like the "orange" color. Getting to the end result was a bit of a journey because the yew lid that I had planned cracked, one of the downsides of yew! Instead of making another yew lid I opted for some figured maple topped off by a canary wood knob. I actually like it more than with the planned yew lid.
