As alot of you may or may not have heard, Oklahoma got hit pretty hard with a gnarley ice storm. This thing came in and blew my Electricity out LAST WEDNESDAY at around 3 pm. It just came back on a little while ago. It has been interesting to say the least. Lots of Monopoly, and Uno by oil lamp light. I am ready for some time in the shop for sure!

Anyway... Just wanted to share my last weeks experiences with the crowd!

The shear weight of the ice split this tree down the middle.

This is in a very close friend's front yard. The tree was pretty old and very large. It will have to be removed now... sad deal.

LOL.. yeah, I am sure she would. Only problem is I have a bucket full of Cedar from the last ice storm that wiped out her trees. I make her something from the cedar every now and again just to brighten her spirits. The tree was planted by her parents when she was just a baby so the pieces she gets from the wood are kind of a big deal for her. It is pure fun for me just to see her face!

Glad that you survived the storms. Some of the storms started over here in the west right over us through Idaho and over to you guys. Sorry.

Good to know you made it thru.
8 days would have been real bad to me. We last power for 2 days in the ice storm December 11, 2008. We didnt have a generator. At the time we had alot of tank pets(3 leopard geckos, 2 bearded dragons, 1 snake, 1 dwarf camelion and 4 fish tanks). All the fish tanks are in the living room and that is where the fire place is so it worksed out but we did bring all the other pet tanks into the living room on top of the couch, chair and computer desk with 2 adults and 1 kid. It was very full. Temp in the room got down to 45-50 in the mornings. Lost the camelion and 1 fish Blue/Green Mandarinfish.

Have a nice new generator and I hope I neve have to use it. I dont want to go thur it again. I wouldnt want to lose the fish. I have alot of time an enjoyment from them and I also named my pen company after one of the fish. Its a clown loach and if I dont do anything or have anything happen like the power or a heat wave it should out live me. They have a 30 year life span and they is a documented fish that lived 50 years in captivity.

Glad all is all right now, but I reckon the population in that part of Oklahoma is gonna double in nine months time!!!

Sounds like my next of the woods about 12 years ago. We had a nast ice storm where power was lost anywhere from 3 - 4 days to 2 - 3 weeks. Glad you stayed warm and alive!

A friend of mine went and paid $750 for a 6500 watt generator just so he could continue to play his X-Box 360 without interuption. I thought about getting one, but could not justify the expense.

I drove past our local County fairgrounds today. It looked like an Electrical company convention or something. There were at least 100 trucks, and they were obviously from all over the nation. Yellow ones, Blue ones, Orange, Green, etc. etc.
