Those of you that do a lot of casting have you ever got a 5 gal can. How do you handle it. I guess I would have to pore it into one of the old 1 gal. cans. I would get concerned that possible contamination from using the same can over and over. It would be nice to set it up and put a pore spot on it some how. Anyone who gets it in 5 gal containers how do you handle it.

Thanks
Bruce

I used clean 1/2 gallon cranberry juice (Ocean Spray, #1 PETE) bottles .. easy to pour into/from, resealable, reusable, easy to see remaining quantity. When I get down to three bottles, reorder.

Thanks Jeff I didn't want to try just anything. I hate to have it eat through a container boy what a mess that would be not to mention the loss $$.

Thanks
Bruce

I bought 5 one gallon gas cans from wal-mart for $1.89 each with spout, easy to fill and pour been useing the same ones for over a year.

The 5 gallon cans of resin I've seen have a bung in which you can install a spout. This way, all one needs to do is make a rack to lay the can on it's side in, or a tipping stand. With a tipping stand, you can get away without using a spout as you can simply pour from the can. You can find tipping stands at many autobody supply houses. They are used mostly for 5 gal cans of thinners and reducers. I plan on getting a 55 gallon drum later this year and will use a spout with the drum on a side rack.

I wonder if the laundry detergent containers would hold up? they have the push button spouts that would make this pouring easier. Anybody tried these containers?

Good idea I wouldn't leave it on it's side. Stand it up after poring I have a few and mite consider trying. I wounder how the spot would hold up. If it would deteriorate or if the resin would crust up that is exposed to air causing a spot to fail. The plastic contain I don't think is too much of a concern. Heck the 5 gal can they use is a plastic bucket with a lid and a pop up spot. I thought it would be a metal can like there 1 gal. but no it's a plastic 5 gal bucket.

I just pick up the 5 gal can and pour from the built in spout. I use the 5 gal from Composites One. (I don't think mrfiberglass uses the same lid.) No drip...no mess...and it works just fine. Guess I'm just too cheap to buy or too lazy to make some of these handy ideas. Thanks for all who shared the clever way. I actually have an antique tipping stand that was my grandfather's. I should go to the attic and find it.
Do a good turn daily!
Don

No the plastic in the spout will disintegrate DAMHIKT! The gas cans that I use are the red plastic ones at wally world.
