This one is Canary wood and Chechen with walnut burl end caps. The veneer is gray vulcanized fiber paper. The end caps are so small that the burly grain doesn't show up much, but still looks nice. For those that are following my progress on these, this is all side grain where the turning happens. There was zero tear out. I used regular carbide cutters and it turned like a dream. If I decide to sell some of these, those will all be side grain, like this one. End grain ones, though doable, are much more difficult to turn. The pen is a GT2 in gunmetal.

Wonderful combination of woods - I agree the end caps add a nice touch and you can see the burly grain.

The grey fiber paper almost looks like thin pewter slices. Really a great pen Ken!

I have made a few hundred of the herringbone design , but have not made one lately with thicker pieces. Will try my next one , also with veneer in the joints. I usually ( just as my choice ) put end caps on with corian type material. Good work Ken.
