Gluing jig works, vaneer process works. Making the blank fun and enjoyable. Actually turning it to this point not enjoyable, turning end grain never is. I had to re-glue a couple pieces on an end. I think I just had too much lateral pressure. That wasn't to big an issue as the ends need to be cut off anyways. My vaneer is white vulcanized fiber paper, I use it a lot. I don't think it's a good candidate to use here though. The end grain wants rot tear away from it as you turn. My next one will be all wood. This type of blank has an extreme amount of waste. This had twelve layers and the thickness was .217.

Not bad at all for a first one. Could you explain your different method of stacking and layering that you said. Hard to tell from one photo. Good to know about the paper thing. I have a bunch of wood veneers coming also. I was not sure how I want to go with this. Am watching your progress with interest.

Very very few people could do so well so quick. WOW! Dang I am so jealous! If that is only "Kinda", my eyes won't be able to see anything sharper!

Beautiful work and finish!

Well the "kinda" was because I had to re glue an end trying to get it round. That was probably because I just used a dead and live center which requires a bit more lateral pressure. Possibly my cutter was getting dull. I'm very happy with how the blank turned. I did finish it to see what it would look like. As is the blank is about 1 inch diameter.
