Either my 33/64" bit is undersized or the cap tubes for the El Grande kits, I have, are oversized.

About to take some measurements.

Any bets on which it is?

GRRRRRRR!!!

I had the same problem, twice. I even used two different bits. I had the exact opposite problem with the Imperial kit with the 35/64" bit. I have thrown two good blanks in trash because of this. I have two and not one of them has been completed!

The 33/64" is not the correct size for the El Grande. Some instructions may call for it, but it does not work. Use a 13.3 mm bit instead.

Without the 13.3 mm bit, you can use a 33/64" drill and then ream it out with a file. However, your hole most likely will be a little out of round even if you are careful with the filing.

ding, ding, ding, ding, ding WINNER!!!

The instructions, I have calls for a 33/64". I did not realized the 13.3mm should be used.

Thanks for the info, Mr. Cook!

Yep, a few times I've had to resort to putting the blank and tube (assembled about 1/2 inch, and too tight to pull out) into a vise and use that to push the tube in. Now I have a dowel wrapped in sandpaper, after I drill the cap, I put that in the chuck and loosen up the hole a bit. It doesn't need much...

Ok, you got me! Where do you find a 13.3mm drill bit? I had trouble finding a 10.5mm and now you're talking a 13.3mm. Holy moly.
