We're going to have two rounds of voting. The first round reduces the field from 39 to 10.

We have a change to the prize structure. In addition to first, second, and third place, we're adding a fourth place prize and a random draw prize for entrants that don't finish in the top four.

First Place: $50 gift Certificate from George's bits Of Timber, and $50 gift certificate from Turners Warehouse.
Second Place: $50 gift certificate from Beartooth Woods and rattle snake blanks from its_Virgil
Third Place: BOB from Mike Broberg $50 value
Fourth Place:pending mredburn's notification

Random Draw: Pending mredburn's notification

Pop some popcorn, pour your favorite beverage, and let's get on with it!

Choose your top 4 pens

Please note that Pen 28 and Pen 29 do not exist; I mistakenly skipped those numbers when I assigned numbers to entries.

Grrr...

Go with what the poll says.... Choose 4.
I can't edit the text of the post to change the 5 to 4.

If you voted for 5 pens...then somebody gets a bonus vote.

If the poll was set up to accept 4 only then you will not be able to vote for 5. But if poll was setup for 5 then we all left one out.

We have 11 hours of voting time remaining. You've done a great job, and I didn't have to beg and plead like somebodies to ramp up voting.

I decided to set the vote totals to remain hidden until the second round is done. That way there is more likelihood the second round won't be influenced by the first, and I don't want vote totals to drop off.

Come, now... we all could have had more votes if we added an extra day of voting to OUR contests, too! LOL:eek:

Good luck to all, looking for to see who moves on.

Oh, and don't forget to vote in the Pretty Resin Pen Contest FINAL VOTE
http://www.penturners.org/forum/f422/2019-pretty-resin-pen-contest-voting-final-vote-158738/

In 2018 the vote totals dropped by 29 between Round 1 and Round 2 (147 vs. 118). In 2017 the vote totals dropped by 33 between Round 1 and Round 2 (107 vs. 74).

In the 2016 Summer Extravaganza (the PWP debut), the vote totals dropped by 21 between Round 1 and Round 2 (103 vs. 82). The 2017 Summer Extravaganza PWP contest only had one round of voting because of lower entry numbers. I didn't chair the 2018 Summer Extravaganza PWP contest.

In each contest, I revealed the vote totals after the first round. This year I decided to keep them hidden to see whether it might make a difference in second round vote totals.

When vote totals are spread out over 29 other entries in the first round, losing 30 voters across 10 pens might mean the difference between two placings, especially when there is a highly competitive contest.

Yes this is a usual occurrence in all events. Many times when the participants entry drops out then their interest may wane and not bother voting again. I believe bringing the post to light every now and then helps keep interest and gives a reminder that the contest is still in the ballance. I understand your thinking so have no problem with it. Good luck to those left standing. Mother Nature supplied the canvas and the turners put the finishing touches on it. :):)
