I still have a ways to go, but these are the first four attempts (out of 50 +) that were worth turning into pens. I am using fly head cement to attach the feathers to the tube and casting with a resin saver mold.

These are home-brew? I keep waiting to try something like this, but I still cluck like the chicken I am. Four real nice pens. congrats.

These are home-brew?

Yea, by my fat little fingers.

I tried glue sticks, without much success. The fly head cement has work well for me. Just rounded off the rest of second set, hope you like.

Those look great. If you don't mind me asking, how do you glue the feathers on the tube? Do you just tack the base on or do you put glue on the whole tube and have the whole feather coated?

I am always amazed with what people here can do.

I put a several drops of fly head cement on the back of the feather, soak it pretty good. I then use a small dowel rod to roll the feather flat to the tube.

I use the preprinted tubes or the black nickel tubes (on the dark feathers) from Woodcraft. Tried to paint my self … you can see the paint separating on the bottom of the blank on the first pen.

Hey, if you still don't like those great blanks, PM me and I will send postage so I can "destroy" them for you:wink::). I truly hate to see you in so much pain over your first attempt with feather blanks.

Other than gluing them to the tubes, do you coat the feathers with something prior to casting them in PR? My BIL is an avid duck hunter and I may ask him for feathers, after I get the casting thing down.

TIA,
Paul
