This is my first attempt. I'm coming up with a gluing jig for these and this turning was made from layers glued up using the jig. The joints came out very tight, thus proving, I think, my jig works well. With this being all the same wood, the design doesn't stand out all that well. Vaneer between all the pieces is where I want to be. I have wood glued together and drying for that next attempt.

I actually like the subtle look of this very much.

My concerns and thoughts were along the lines of how precise you could make the fittings. You did excellent on the very first one.

The rest / following will be just as good, but quicker with the experience gained. I look forward to your next ones! Well done.

NOW, are you going to present your tutorial for us to follow?

Your tutorial is invaluable in learning this process.
This would be a good idea to have your own tutorial too. As I said before I took Don's and Darrins report from here as well as getting in touch with another crafter. Hope you give us details as to size of pieces, amount of layers to make that pen and hopefully the jigs you made to make this easy. I am one who would love to see them. Thanks for sharing. Maybe also tell us some do's and don'ts. You did get there very quickly and that has to do with your talent and knowledge of segmenting

Well Don's tutorial and the pictures you supplied were instrumental. I'm, at the moment struggling with assembly after I got the vaneer glued on, I'm very close and had to walk away for a bit 😁 I don't think I need to write up a tutorial, Dons is pretty darn good. When I get these all figured out, I'll post my process along with my gluing jig.
