I'm giving thought to getting one...will use it with a Viair 12v portable compressor in the garage. Should I get the 1000a instead of 600 or will this be sufficient? Thanks.

I am not even remotely qualified to answer your question but I would think the next question will be what will you be using the compressor for? I would think that the harder you push the compressor the more power it will need and as a result the more amps that would be needed.

It depends on the compressor model you have:

For example, the Viair450C and their 200 PSI Plug-N-Play 38034 are specified at a maximum current of 23 Amps so a 50 Amp / 600 Watt power supply like the one you pictured should be more than adequate. However, if the cost isn't significantly higher, a 1000 Watt would certainly work and would maybe just run a little cooler (rated at 83 Amps).

For that compressor, 300p, I would think the less expensive 600W would be more than adequate. It's maximum current draw is 30-Amps and it has a 40-Amp inline fuse, so a 50-Amp power supply can put out more than enough energy to run it. - Dave
