    Soaking Pen blank after stabilization

After the blank is stabilized in the chamber, do you have to leave it in the chamber for a few days to soak, or can you put in another receptacle with resin and let it soak? Also, does anyone put the blank in a pressure pot to soak?

    Stabilized Found Wood x 2

Since I was cursed with this hobby a few months ago, I find I'm easily distracted by wood I see lying around. If I'm out for a walk, I'll pick something up and put it in a pile I started of "interesting finds" in the garage. This past week I finally got around to picking ten or so out of the pile...

    selecting pen blanks

As a new pen turner, I had some questions regarding wood pen blanks. 1. Are there any woods/exotic woods that I would be better off staying away from because they are just painful to work with without either more experience or higher end tools? 2. Are there any woods/exotic woods that I...

    Spalted Maple Broadwell

I turned this Broadwell Art Deco Gold T/N and Chrome pen today. I used a spalted maple blank that I have had for a while and finally decided to turn. I stabilized it before I turned it. It had quite an interesting spalt pattern. Each line was a double line which gave it a nice effect. Let...
