Here is nice example of one of the high end rollerball pens I just completed.
This pen is made from over 50 individually laser cut pieces of Maple, Padauk and Olivewood.
This pen was a product of a lot of small pieces of scrap that I had laying around. Still new to Turning pins so I probably have a lot more to learn. But I think I'm off to a good start. I made my Blanks on this one . There are a few pieces of African paduk , spalded maple, Purple Heart, zebra...
Finishing this blank up for my dad's birthday gift. I am not a fan of epoxy resin, such a mess to deal with. This is one of my first "ambitious" segmenting projects. I had a scaled blank that came apart before this, which is why I switched from CA glue to epoxy.
Squares are 3/4" and 0.1" thick...
A retro pen it will be. Padouk, wenge, beech, merbau, white and black pvc, and 2 veneers. this is the top section, the bottomsection is the same but on the lathe, finishing with CA.
Upper and lower blank prepared. Padouk, beech and wenge veneer added and 2 pieces of yew, 16 pieces of wenge venner for all scallops, 16 pieces of beech and 16 pieces of wenge wood.
First attempt at making hybrid pen blanks/segmented pen blanks. I have a long way to go making segmented pen blanks! Hubby did most of the turning (I’m still learning).
Pen Kits: Big Ben Cigar Pen, Executive Twist Pen
I have lots of long & narrow (1/8" or less wide) strips of cherry wood that I would like to try and make pen blanks of. I tried Alumilite in a mold - didn't work out. Any body have any suggestions as to what to use to bind the pieces together.
Thanks - Alan
My name is Jim Godoy. I started turning a few years back and that hobby turned into blank making. I was fortunate enough to meet a fellow turner with similar interests and we have since focused mostly on blank making, cast, hybrid, stabilized, dyed and segmented blanks. Looking forward to being...
