Due to recent price spikes of many metals, PSI changed most of their Rhodium containing pen kits from Rhodium to Chrome.
Because I make mainly high end pens, I'm looking for kits made with precious metals that will also stand the test of time.
What are your recommendations? Many...
Who needs exotic wood when native cherry looks like this? This is a Jr. Gent II in Rhodium wrapped in Black Cherry Burl from northern Pennsylvania. I stabilized it with Cactus Juice and it turned and finished like a dream. The finish is just a few coats of BLO & thin CA and then buffed.
The woods on these two look really good IMO. I also like the Jr Gents kits; especially the Rhodium. I expect I'll be ready to attempt kitless about three years after my funeral. ;) Thanks for looking. C&C welcome.

I've snatched up these two blanks at the June IAP meeting in Atlanta. The kits are Softgrips in Rhodium from CSUSA. I painted the holes and tubes white, sanded to 12k mm, then used the Beall's buff and wax.

It's not perfect. I took a divot out of the lower barrel trying to hurry removing the milling edges.
Back to the drawing board.
