Ugly Pen?

I came across an old cutting board I made 20 years ago. Since it's not being used, I thought I would cut it up and make some pens. After the first pen, I decided it's not a great idea after all. If I remember correctly, the 2 woods are purple heart and white oak. What do you all think?

I'm generally a single-wood-per-pen purist, but I think that looks great! And I like the idea of reusing/reimagining that wood. Very creative. Now I'm eyeing everything wood as a pen ... :cool:
