I bought some wood from someone on here and one of the pieces was a long Turkish Walnut. Wow! What beautiful wood, not a lot of high contrast grain structure, but the chatoyancy is quite beautiful.

Beautiful pen

Do you drill and cast the resin in the blank? Is that your own casting for the section? Very nice complementing colors

That is certainly an awesome blank and you did it justice. I will add that a few times I have seen some for sale on IAP and they look even more figured photos only). Quality will shine through. Very nice.

Thank you. No, the Alumilite is a separate blank, this one was cast by Jason Miller, and is a beautiful blank. Most often we do use our own though.

Thank you, so Turkish Walnut can come with figure, hmmm, that would be nice. This one just wasn't the high contrast like DIW or something like that. Still gorgeous.

Another Beautiful Pen! I agree, you have a great eye for nailing great combinations of wood and resin!!

There used to be a gentleman selling Turkish walnut. His main business is gunstock blanks, but he found a market for the pen blanks with us here.

Wow, that's beautiful! With all the fancy exotic woods out there, it's easy to forget how beautiful a "regular" wood can be. I know the Turkish and Claro walnuts aren't really considered normal for walnut, but anything with figure can really pop. I love the match up with that section color!
