Every year I make about 40 pens to give away to the family at Christmas. I began the tradition about 15 years ago and each year I do something different from the past. Over the years I've used feathers, opals, snakes, stamps, abalone, items from Mother Nature, and etc. It's getting tough to come up with new ideas.

I was playing with the idea of a clear cast steampunk blank but I wanted it to be random and bold but with a touch of elegance. Like usual, I finished all 40 of them at the last minute (actually early this year, 3 days before I gift them).

This is what I came up with… No two are exactly the same.
I call them "Industrial pen blanks". They are dressed in the new Stainless Steel Diamond Knurl pen from Exotic Blanks.

Merry Christmas All!

Very nice assortment of pens! Great job on crafting all of them. Those will be some great Christmas gifts…

Thank you all for the kind comments. Thankfully they went over very well, I worry every year. I always make a few extra just in case. This year I had 3 left over so I'll gift them to the neighbors and postal carrier. Now that the gifting holiday is over, I sit making them on Jr's. You'd think I would get faster as I go but I still have 30-40 minutes in each tube before I cast them. I guess it's a good thing that I enjoy it. Lol.

A Happy and Safe New Year to You All!

You might not be getting faster, but at least you didn't have to risk your dear wife stumbling into thawing snakes in order to get them made. 😁 (This time anyway!). - Dave

That story STILL makes me laugh.

Case in point I nearly spit out my coffee laughing as I read that
