Curly Maple stabilized and dyed. Slim Line Twist pen for my Sister-In-Law. First time turning acrylic, a Stabilized blank and using GluBoost finish. Did 2 coats, accelerator in between coats. Fill N Finish Pro, then Thin N Finish. Hope it was enough coats but the video from Exotic Blanks showed using 2 coats. Not as "smooth" of a finish that I expected unless I did something wrong. Sanded up to 800 grit. Then wet sanded micro mesh up to 12,000. I welcome all comments. Still learning!

Nice looking pen. Don't give up on your finish, it takes some time to perfect your process. With smooth wood like that you could have skipped the medium and went straight to the thin. I usually apply 4-5 coats in the process. Sometimes there's a need to sand the glue smooth with 400-600 grit before you wet sand / micromesh it. When done properly, it will be as smooth as glass. Keep at it!

Nothing to be sorry about. Acrylic usually just means no wood. Now you got me thinking though. Hybrids are part resin part wood and there are many cast blanks with all sorts of materials embedded. I don't think yours qualifies as acrylic but I understand you were counting the stabilizing resin as such. Bottom line you did a nice job. The curly maple is gorgeous.
