Some Niles bottle openers I made for a few clients
Left to right: mpingo, australian burn, olivewood, indian rosewood, curly redwood, cocobolo, and (I think) maple burl

Nice. Good selection of shapes and wood. Finish used?
Much different than the bottle openers and the church key of my younger days. The real cheap stuff had a screw on cap.

Finish is just sanding down to 1500 and microfine yorkshire grit.
I hear ya. The bottle openers of my uni days was just a bic lighter or the edge of a crummy desk.
