When I posted this the first time I didn't realize the finial had cracked when pressing it together. Very embarrassing to say the least. Anyway way after several more attempts to get it right I finally got it where I'm pleased with the outcome. Needless to say it was a huge learning experience. I wasn't cutting corners but I wasn't looking ahead to avoid later problems. The pen and cap is shell with a shark vertebrae center band and shark tooth finial. Questions and Comments are always Welcome.

Nice. I'm interested in the shell part. It looks seamless. Surely it can't be one piece can it? I've been trying to do a shell pen for my wife. Two fails so far.

It's one piece but not seamless. It's a thin sheet of shell and I wrap it arthritis tube. It's very easy to do but as all things it has its issues.

I know that's a typo (at least I hope so), but I kinda feel it a little.

I was impressed by it before, and still am. The new finial looks great! I forgot, did you paint inside the cap before casting the finial?
I did paint the cap. I was having trouble with air and uncurled CA. John U gave me a tip when I first started having problems and suggested clear fingernail polish. I knew that the polish didn't like the paint I use so here's what I did. First I plugged the finial insert hole with epoxy putty. Then I painted the bottom of the hole white. Then epoxy glue to hold the shell in place. Once that cured I coated the shell and made sure to get the edges coated with the nail polish. While the polish was wet I added the tooth. After that I started the CA build up.
