Blank came from @isaacrapelje

I'm really happy how it turned out.

Unfortunately it took me a bit longer than expected as I inadvertently sliced a finger open yesterday while reaching for the blank as it fell behind the lathe while sanding. I did turn the lathe off before reaching for the blank, but I didn't look at where the hand was going. Mental note, ring finger and carbide cutter cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Fortunately some direct pressure, dermabond and steristrips solved the immediate issue.

I'm a big fan of custom cabochons on the finial of pens. We couldn't see it in the first two pictures - thanks for the update with the additional picture. Beautiful pen. - Dave

Beautiful pen! I've CA'd a few slices in the shop. It's amazing how well that works. The custom finials really do take the pen to the next level. Next up... a customer centerband?

I'm slowly working up the courage to do the center band thing. Not there yet, still not quite comfortable with my turning experience.

Regarding the cut, I was quite happy the carbide made such a straight cut. It's healing quite nicely. And I figured based on some past teaching wrt first aid/trauma, all bleeding will stop eventually.

Nice pen and the finial is the icing on the cake.
As for bleeding, CA was formulated for non-stitching surgery. Wife had thyroid surgery and the neck skin was bonded with glue; interior was stitched with thread.
