After about 5 hours of trial and error. I have finally developed my final design for our Mother's Day gifts this year. Some ladies requested a small bowl just big enough to put their rings in at night on their dresser.

It is made out of Cherry, 4" x 4" at 1" tall.
It currently has wax as a finish.
I ended up quickly making a 9" disc sander for the lathe so I could more easily square up the dish.

Now to put 30 of them into a production line.

Great work. Tear out on the ( effectively endgrain) corners is an issue but square bowls keep you very focussed on the work I find. Certainly would NOT fancy making 30 in one session ( even over a week or two ) Good luck with your mission

My plan is to do all the bottoms first. Then another session or two to do the inside. Then another session to sand the side walls. At least that's the plan.... but you know what they say about plans.

I was able to get 20 bottoms done.... ruined 3 (rushing).
The average time was 12 minutes. I'm going to go ahead and finish these in the next few days.
Then I'll start another batch of 10 a little later.
