Good evening everyone,

Tonight I wanted to share with you a fountain pen that I've made in 2020, called Musica Viva.

As pen makers I think that we all have a pen that we are a bit proud of, this is one of those for me.

The reason is at that time when I created this one I didn't have a rolling mill yet so I melted some silver and whacked it until it became a flat sheet of silver which I could start to cut out in the pattern that you see before you, with some music notes.

It took me several hours to get the silver flat but I think at the end it was well worth it.

The box was made out 13th century oak wood that was found in a historical excavation in the city Roeselare in Belgium and for the inlay I used sand that I took from a trip to Diani beach in Mombasa, Kenya.

Have a great day ya'll.

Andy.

As much as I love this pen, I almost love the creative inlay work on the rustic matching box as much.

Andy, may I ask where you learned how to work with silver?

Thank you very much, Derek.
I just watched some videos on you tube and the rest I made up along the way, actually. And I am still learning everyday.
It's a never ending story. I also make some jewelry when someone is asking for it.

Truly beautiful pen and design. The little book stand/rest is a nice touch. Box is intriguing! Love the weathered/chipped design.

The pen by itself would be fantastic, but the silver scrolling makes it beautiful beyond belief. Then the historical box with the inlay with special sand just makes this piece extra special. Congratulations on your creativity and the finished product that came from it. I can well understand why this is one you are proud of.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I am happy that you like it. :)
