What is this wood?

Had this blank in a bunch of scrap. Made a deer call and this pill box for some friends.. can not remember what it is. This is the natural color. Be nice to tell em what kinda wood.

Echoing Mrducks, that looks like padouk, but it's too blurry to be 100% certain.

Maybe this one is clearer. Has a redish dust when sanded slight orange tint

Looks unanimous, thanks guys. It sounds better saying it's paduck rather than (0h just a piece of scrap I had laying around).

Yes, my opinion too. It is also often called Vermilion and it was added to the CITES appendix of rare and threatened species in February this year. - Dave

I'm guessing availability will still be OK for a few years, but now that the importers/exporters need to get some kind of CITES licensing, I would imagine the price will be affected the most - and certainly the first. I just bought some IPE (Brazilian Walnut) because of the same thing. - Dave
