Very nice! I like the shape you gave it, where it grows larger towards the top then curves in.
Does look like walnut to me (I think those little arching bits of cross grain like you can see in pic #3 as well as the open grain seem to give it away), but, sometimes you can never be SURE. I pulled out a blank a few weeks back that I thought was walnut, but when I finished it, I was pretty darn sure it was something else, as it didn't have some of the characteristics of the walnut I've turned (including black, claro and peruvian), such as those little arches of cross-grain.

I really like the Compsons, too. They can be a bit of a pain on the clip end during assembly unless I put a good round shoulder on that end, which is why I have a few extra around. They are one of my favorite go-tos when I grab a pen around here, though.
