Field Click Buckeye

This is a Field Click pen in gunmetal, from Turners Warehouse. The buckeye burl blank was given to me by my friend Dennis. It started to come apart on me, so Dennis cast it in purple resin in his pressure pot. It's nothing less than spectacular! I dry sanded it to 600 grit, and finished it with Mylands and carnuba wax.

Very cool. I knew there was a reason I've kept all of those blanks that I've had blowouts on when I was drilling. I never would have thought about casting them as a repair. Thanks for the idea-and thanks to Dennis as well. - Dave

It was a complete shot in the dark when I cast around a blowout my first time. It's saved me several times over and each one I do this way look fantastic when finished. Something about the natural way it blows out makes for a spectacular hybrid.

This buckeye I got was a complete mess…I knew it had hidden pitting throughout, so I was planning on Jim bringing it to me once he turned it down LOL.

Wait - you mean people get rid of blanks and small chunks of wood leftover from projects? Please explain this concept a little further! (couldn't resist)
