Wow! Gluboost, where have you been all my life? I have to say I'm SO impressed. I'm so happy with how Gluboost applies to my pen, not as tacky as CA, self leveling, no strong odor, the accelerator sprays very fine with no bubbling or white spots. As I was going through my Micro Mesh, I noticed the water droplets beading up, think how this must be protecting the wood. Easy to polish and SO clear. I'm a HUGE fan. I purchased the starter set from Exotic Blanks, and WOW!

I have to add I'm always skeptical when products are hyped up, but Gluboost lives up to the hype.

Also, this is an Apollo roller ball in stainless steel from Bullseye Turning Supplies, I'm always a fan of their rollerballs and fountains (even though I'm learning kitless now) The blank is also from Bullseye Turning Supplies, dyed flame box elder…I'm a fan.

Well done.

All these posts touting the virtues of Gluboost has me wondering if I should move that direction after I finish my current bottles of Starbond.

I'm not trying to "sponsor" it or sell it, but I will say I used to turn ca over to my husband because it's tacky, and smelly and a little harder to apply. I think Gluboost is in fact easier to apply a bit more free and self leveling. Not as stinky, although I find it can still make me eyes burn a bit. The a accelerator is a very fine spray and leaves no white places, doesn't boil. Gluboost is a bit pricey, but I'm a fan.

Beautiful pen! I really like that little pop of color from the "flame" in the wood.

Yes, you should at least try it and see for yourself how it works for you. To me, it costs more, but is a lot less frustrating, and I feel like less goes to waste. There's also that part about great results to consider.

Yes, it is pricey! However, I have never used more than 6 coats to get a great finish!!
How many coats of xxxxxxCA are you using? Does your time have a value?

Just food for thought.

Great point, fewer coats..less time fiddling with your finish.

I typically put two coats of thin CA to use as sort of a sanding sealer then 6-8 coats of medium CA.

Then wet sand 800-12,000.
