For me Celtic knot pens are the ones most admired at shows. I had an order for nine pens, this was an extra so I made it into this knot. These were the first Vertex click pens I have made. I'm not real impressed with the click mechanism, specifically, the little screw on cap . I only had 3 of the ten screw on where I could feel the end of the threads. I had to put thread locker on them and I'm not 100% sure they won't come loose. Anyways I like the way this one turned out with spalted maple and red heart. The cuts were at 55° using the 1,3,2,4 method.

Great Pen Ken! I like the 55° - it makes for a little longer knot than the common 45°. The spalting on the blank also adds some additional detail to the pen.
I agree, I never make them at 45°. To me, they look much better spread out a bit.

Very cool. The Maple and Red Heart really complement each other nicely. Thanks for the tip about the angle for knots. I haven't made any yet. Maybe I will have to build a 55-degree sled. - Dave
