A couple of firsts

Another McKenzie rollerball. First time:
- Using local wood
- drying (used a dehydrator, tree had been down over a year)
- stabilizing
- dying

The dye didn't penetrate all of the rings - next time I may try both vacuuming and soaking longer. But I think it turned out as a really cool pattern.

It looks kinda cool with the striped rings that didn't take the dye.

I am also a fan of the fact that the wood didn't take the dye evenly.

Thanks Everyone - I was really happy with how it turned out with the dye not completely saturating all the way through. I even got the grain stripes on the finial to line up with the cap.
