I don't make many pens with gold plating, just not my favorite, no idea why. This one I wanted the gears to just be subtle, disappearing somewhat into the background. It turned out great, exactly what I envisioned.

I share your dislike for gold plating. For one thing, it's probably the least durable. I do prefer gold color titanium. Not quite the same color but I think it holds up better.
