Olive wood burl

This is an olive wood burl slimline i finished yesterday; it was an experiment to see if that wood could be turned like that (without stabilisation). I am not sure if this can be technically called a burl. It was harvested from the lower part of the tree, exactly above the root, where many suckers develop. It has many cracks that i filled with ca, wet sanded until 1500 grit and finished with oil. Cheers

Beautiful wood. While the cracks add character, it would be better if stabilized (in my opinion). Still it's great looking and the CA filling the cracks keeps it from further cracking. All around it's aesthetically a beautiful wood.

Well yes you are right, i hope it doesn't crack...i have a theory ( totally unscientific) that twisted grain is much more rigid than ordinary grain..i guess time will tell..
