Here are some pictures from an olive wood pen i made recently. Its an omega pen kit from taylor's mirfield finished with just oil for a matte look, cheers.
Thank you very muchExcellent work. Fit and finish are great.
Thank you, yes i believe this plating colour fits nice with olive wood.Outstanding pen. Great grain pattern, and the copper really compliments the wood tone beautifully.
Thank you. A major factor is that these trees are not irrigated in the mediterranean ( at least not traditionally, intensive crops are different). If you think about it grain is greatly affected by the tree's hardship; these olive trees were not fertilised, irrigated and could be planted in marginal land where no cultivation would occur ( unlike a fruit orchard for instance). Olive trees in Italy, Greece,Israel etc.are grown like this.Nice pens. The grain is what sets off olive wood. My wife has some olive wood carvings from Israel.
Thank you, hope to make it better next timeExcellent, Mike. You have done well with a lovely piece of timber.

That's true, however olive trees need pruning to be productive; mostly branches are pruned and sometimes parts of the trunk ( depending on the state of the tree). It's my understanding that olive trees are not cut down. Some ae hundreds of years old (like some of us penturners). Wood for carving, etc., is from broken limbs that are cut.
