Once in a while I retrieve a piece of firewood from the pile that has a higher purpose than keeping us warm. Pictured below are a choke cherry burl and a piece of spalted black birch. Two pens from the cherry and one from the blach birch are pictured. All blanks were stabilized in Cactus Juice before cutting to size and turning.
