Annular Unknown

This is an Annular twist pen from Crooked Mill, in gunmetal. It's obviously a copy of the discontinued PSI Knurl GT. The wood is unknown to me. I found it in my garage. It looks like I cut it from a tree branch, but I can't remember. Whatever it is, it has some spectacular grain and figure. I wish I knew what it is, I'd like to find some more. The finish is Pens Plus. Made a great looking pen.

This is the stick. I have made pens from wood from the trees in my yard. I have a walnut tree, a couple of oak trees, and a eucalyptus tree. It doesn't look like any of them to me, but I suppose it could be eucalyptus. Any ideas?

Beautiful grain in that piece . Glad you have more of it . I would have guessed an oak of some kind . Was the tree planted by a homeowner , or is it a remnant of a forest ?
