Experimental blank that I couldn't decide whether it would fit better in the casting or the segmented BASH contests. The pen ended up finished after the entry deadline anyways. The slight unevenness between the slices is because I used toothpicks to keep them apart and I must have used cheap ones since they weren't of a consistent thickness... 😂
The hardware is of a Dayacom Indigo ballpoint. C&C welcome.

What wood etc did you use to make both the colors and white segments?

Nice work.
The colored pieces are from an uber-rare burl, the only place I know where it grows is in... my basement. Not sure what the common name is but the taxonomy has it as Adamantino liquor... something like liquid diamond :D So I made 1/16" slices of that burl, then recut the strips in square 3/4"x3/4", filled a 3/4"x3/4"x5" horizontal mold, and kept each slide apart using toothpicks, from end to end lengthwise. I then used the "sap" of that same "tree", colored it in white with Alumilite dye, and filled the rest of the mold with it. That "sap" when exposed to the air actually solidifies (some say it cures). And voilà, the result was the blank for this pen :D Another blank put together without glue :D

Attached is a picture of that burl, I don't have much left so I won't share, please don't ask 🤣
