The problems I had with my previous attempts definitely had to do with gluing the parts on with CA. This one, I used clear nail polish as glue. Pen is again a Citizen.

Well Done. If I remember correctly you said you were using Alumilite Clear Slow. The Urethane Resins don't like CA. Plus CA reflects light under the clear resin witch I can't stand. Looks like you've found your niche. Awesome Pen.

Yes it's aluminite clear slow.

Awesome pen indeed! Truly excellent work. I'm curious, are you actually rounding real gears there, and gluing them to the copper-colored substrate?

Yes bending them using a Harbor Freight arbor press and transfer punches.

That's fantastic! Was also wondering how you put that all together. Is that a sheet of something you wrapped around the tube? From previous comments, I'm guessing CA is not what you used to hold the gears on there before pouring the blanks?

Ah, interesting! Sounds like meticulous work. I've seen some clockwork blanks before, prices in the range of $160 or so... They had quite a few gears, and if each one has to be manually curved to fit the blank, I can see why they cost that much.

I wrap the tube with Cricut permanent vinyl, comes in many colors, I prefer the ones with texture and used clear nail polish for glue, then cast them with Aiuminite resin.

I have a dapping block coming, that should come in handy for making these. I made one from a piece of oak, but the gears get stuck when bending. It works, but I think a steel one will work better.

That is one darn nice pen! I'll skip the obvious superb components/gears, ;) and compliment the background copper/embellished foil - sweet, and really gives a nice tapestry for the additional elements.

Ken, this is getting to a higher level. Well done! Be well.
