Almost every year, between Christmas and New Year, I disappear into my shop to make something. Usually a project of some random woodworking nature. For example, last year I made a Mission Style Lamp with a White Oak base and Mica Shade:

This year I was not inspired - Christmas was fairly low-key, with us staying home due to COVID. On Monday I was going through my cutoff bin looking for something to make a pen out of, and then decided that would be my "project" for this week....

I started randomly combining various cutoffs with other cutoffs, mixing in a little colored veneers and vulcanized paper here and there. I'm about halfway through my pile of "new" segmented pen blanks (about 20 so far), but here's a snapshot of my progress. It's kind of fun to mix it up and see what turns out. (pun intended).

Happy New Year everyone! Looking forward to 2022.
