These have been a big hit with fellow coworkers, maybe in part to the hunting season upon us. I know I've seen others on this site post this kind of pen, and my apologies for not remembering who as I was able to make the same. These are two 308 shells on with a slimline kit. After knocking out the primer I drilled a 7mm hole. I epoxied in an 8mm tube first, and then epoxied in the 7mm tube inside of that. I know others have used other methods to help with the space between the tube and shell, but this has worked for me. Thanks for looking.

WOW !!

That's a nice pen !!!!

The 308 shell casings must be very close to just the right length for that design because it does not look like you have shortened them.

Jeb I just glued up a set of casings and looked at using the 8mm tube. I've made several of these and of coarse looking for an easier and better way to address the play at the nib. Not knocking your way but just throwing something out there because there was still a bit of play between the two tubes. What I'm not doing is using old slimline nibs. I found a few extra nibs and sanded the shoulders down so that they just slide inside the 7mm tube. I use epoxy glue to help fill the large gaps and it seems to work very well. I slide the nib in the tube and glue the tube in the casing. Be careful with the glue so you don't glue the nib in with it. Then I take a small piece of black electrical tape and wrap it around the nib and casing. I use the electrical tape because it stretches and puts equal pressure all around the casing and nib. That centers the two pieces as close as they can be. After the glue is set remove the sanded nib and press in the new parts. Like you mentioned these several was to do this but this is the best way that works for me. Thanks for posting.
