A while back I bought a box of Aussie Burl blanks from West Penn Hardwoods, five of which were labeled "Bimble Box". I wasn't familiar with the species and put off turning it. A couple of days ago I decided to turn one of the blanks down for a Virage Fountain pen and in doing so discovered a more beautiful piece of timber than I had ever imagined. Much to my disappointment I had a small chip out on the end of the upper barrel. Couldn't just brush it off so I put rosewood segments on the ends of both upper and lower barrels. It's a bit of a PITA to do but I think the extra time and energy was well spent. I really think this is one of the nicest looking pens I've ever made. The four blanks I have left will be reserved for higher end hardware.
