This is the first time I've made a custom finial. It came out really good, but in the ebony it's hard to tell it from the factory finial other than the shape. I did learn that it's very hard to repair cracks in ebony without a glue line showing, but the finish hides that pretty well. It did seem a bit brittle to me. I couldn't seem to polish out all the micro scratches, but nobody is going to scrutinize it under a magnifying glass like I do.

Thanks! That means a lot coming from the more experienced penturners. Now if only I could actually get every speck of dust off of them before taking photos. Can't even see it until I see the pics sometimes. Maybe I need stronger cheaters?
