Finally made some time to try a couple of the celluloid blanks that I bought from Cheng. Username jick wu here on IAP.
m13x0.8 cap threads and m10x1.0 for the section. Sanded to 2k and finished with magic juice.

All feedback is appreciated.

Eric the darker one I like a lot. Not sure what a celluloid is. I mainly turn wood but appreciate the beauty of these blanks. I notice no clip which I always think strange. But we'll done great Pens.

Hi Michael. Thanks for the comments. I agree I much prefer the dark one myself. I can't tell you exactly what celluloid is but the pieces I have are beautiful and it turns very nicely. As for clips. I've done a few but have not been real happy with the ones I have bought and at this time have way to much on my plate to even contemplate making one. Personally I don't miss having a clip on the ones I have kept for myself.
 
Eric it's just an assumption we think Tea Cups should handles but the Chinese didn't for centuries.
Your Pens look great and I'm sure they write beautifully what more could you want.

Since there are two comment here showing a lack of knowledge about what celluloid is let me chime in: CELLULOSE NITRATE aka GUNCOTTON!!

No kidding. Your pens and blanks are safe in solid form but the shavings and sanding dust are extremely flammable.

Do a search on the site for more info. To check that it is truly celluloid (which is very hard to find) try rubbing a solid piece of it to create some heat--it should smell like camphor.

Apologies for any confusion. I was directing my comment at the OP. You're right about true celluloid being essentially gun cotton! What Cheng is/was selling is the material that essentially took over celluloid as a pen making material back in the early 1900's as it was easier and safer to make (from what I understand).

No need for an apology. I have a bit of celluloid. There's nothing quite like it in terms of look and feel, but you gotta be careful.

Learning a lot here. Thank you guys for the clarifications. Yes what I bought is from Cheng's latest posting maybe a month ago now.
